New bike or not?

I have a Boardman 650b 2013 which is fine however was looking to get a newer / better bike.
But not sure if i would benefit from a new bike, still looking for a hard tail but a lighter bike just for general use for forest tracks nothing major.
I do feel comfy on the bike as tried my sons new bike but not too keen on it, so am i better just to keep it and just get it serviced or any suggestions on any upgrades for it?
