Best material for glove liner?

Anyone have any thoughts on the best material for winter glove liner?
wool, fleece, merino, tinsulate, other?
this is assuming the overglove is water and windproof, so I'm after a material with the best thermal properties, maybe good wicking too, but my hands get so cold, they rarely sweat.
Cheers.

+1. Just be careful if it gets anywhere near Velcro when you wash 'em. Otherwise ace.
