36 spoke Archetype rear wheel pinging lots

Hi All,
i have had my Archetypes for 6 months or so but the rear is making pinging sounds like i have broken a spoke.
i have checked all the spokes and all seem fine although they do feel a tiny bit spongey. the sound is like they are all just rubbing together but i only get the noise when peddaling. nothing is touching the spokes.
do i just need to get them serviced as i dint fancy it myself as i have broken spokes before (on cheaper wheels) trying to true them?
thanks

Probably just need more tension, you can do that yourself?0

Sounds like you could have some spokes that aren't at the proper tension, suggest you find a good local wheel builder who can take a proper look and retension the wheel.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Get the spokes retensioned ASAP. Sounds like the leading spokes are coming untensioned when you are pedalling. This will rapidly fatigue and break the spokes. I'd get the front wheel spokes checked for tension while you are at it.0

you guys are probably right thanks. will get my LBS to take a look as they have been great of late. i wont take the risk of breaking it any more as ive tried on cheap planet x wheels and just cant quite get the knack of truing/tensioningCube Cross 2016

If these were hand built, then surely the original builder will tension them for you FOC?0

If these were hand built they shouldn't need re-tensioning!! Who built them?WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

I got them built by Strada and delivery was via mail order so by the time i have sent them off i'm paying more than a shop to take a look.
i can also blame the state of the roads and my weight. there was a reason i chose 36 spokes :-)Cube Cross 2016

36 spoke archetypes should steamroller over just about anything. Be nice if you can let us know what the outcome is - whether it is just a loose spoke, or the whole wheel is out of tension.0

well the bike shop have taken them for me and mentioned the spokes feel a little lose on the non drive side. i'm leaving both wheels with them for a few days and hopefully all will be as good as new for next week.
i'm ever so caution riding my 20 spoke bontragers in the mean time :-)Cube Cross 2016

Sometimes pinging is caused where the spokes cross and touch. A drop of lube stops it. Drive side spokes always feel a little lose.Pegoretti
