Lighter CX wheels - Options

I'm running a Cannondale CAADX Sora Disc, which carries a bit of weight in the groupset (compared to say the 105 version), but the CAADX's across the range have fairly heavy stock wheels, so that was always going to be my first weight-saving upgrade.
So, any suggestions? I'm hoping that a £200 budget (or thereabouts) will unearth something discounted?
Finding disc brake specific wheels is harder than I was expecting. There's a Mavic Aksium One disc, but that doesn't save much weight, but should roll better. Hopes are possible and I'm fairly sure that there are Fulcrum alternatives.

Just thought… the Stans Iron Cross rims on Switch Hubs from Superstar Components seems a good option.

Iron Cross rims are good; I built a couple of pairs up into 1400g wheel sets, and they've been pretty bombproof. Can also be used with inner tubes if you don't want to go tubeless...

Isn't Iron Cross the one with the PSI issue?

May be look at having a pair made up, your choice of hub with Archetype rim with 32H Sapim Race spokes, along those lines. I have this on my CX bike although its used only for road and the odd tow path but they're very strong and reasonably light.

Didn't know about that, but I've only used mine in anger, in the 15-30psi range. May have gone as high as 50psi (with CX tyres) for long rides to training sessions, but certainly never tried them with road tyres, or at road pressures.

As long as they are not the ones built BY Superstar Components.
Iron Cross are CX specific rims, so ideally you want 32mm + tyres and low pressure, rather than Gatorskin at 110 PSI

Better to go with the Stans Grail wheelset. They can take road tires up to 110psi and run CX tires down in the 30s. They have a wider internal measurement and a deeper profile.
The Iron Cross were purely designed for CX tyres under 45 psi.

Yep, Grails, Archetypes or Pacenti SL25 should be the options if you want to do a bit of everything.

Agree, the Grail is a much better rim

Thanks for the feedback… currently running Sammy Slicks at about 60PSI for training rides involving some road and hard-packed trails, so probably best to avoid the Iron Cross'.
