Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor

For some totally unbeknown to me reason, BOTH speed sensors on my garmin GSC-10 sensors are broken. On both, the cadence seems fine (red light when magnet passes, readout on my Edge 500) but speed doesn't.
When I press the reset button on the sensor, they both flash red then green.
On only one of them does the reed in the speed arm make a ticking sound.
My question is: shall I go down the route of getting these replaced with like for like or is it worth getting the new one? I've never had this issue before with 2 years of usage on my old bike all year round.
Annoying....!

In the same boat, went for the new magnet-less ones, cheapest I found was Handtec. Put a new battery in my old one and it works ok, stuck it on the winter bike.Trek SLR 1500 Ultegra 9 spd

How about saving a few quid and just get the new cadence sensor and use the GPS for speed? Cheapest place seems to be Halfords at the moment with their 20% off + extra 10% for BC membership (+Quidco).
That or the Wahoo version, also from Halfords.0 -

I had same problems with several gsc10s and decathlon alternative so got the new garmin accelerometer ones last August, 5k miles later still going strong so I wouldn't swap back.0
