Magnetless Garmin sensor pairing issue

I have just got a new Garmin cadence and speed sensor but I cannot get it to pair the cadence side with my Edge 500. I can get it to pair with my 510 so I know it works but I cannot get the 500 to find the cadence. I have tried auto search (The 500 only has speed/cadence, Speed only or cadence only in the list). I have tried pairing cadence only too. I have also tried putting in the 5 digit code off the unit but to no avail. Any ideas? Anyone had the same issue?

I've got the magnetless sensors and use it with a 510. I had to pair with speed separately and cadence separately on the 510 not the combined speed / cadence sensor as I had originally when I used the GSC10 unit. Try spinning the wheel and cranks while your searching. I recall having to do this.Strava Profile: http://app.strava.com/athletes/20060660

I had a similar issue a few weeks back as I purchased the new cadence sensor which I took to Mallorca for use on a hire bike with my 500.
I had to ensure the HR Monitor was detected and that all other sensors that were not present were turned off, in my case Power and Speed, I could then pair the sensor without a problem. The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the devil's own satanic herd.0 -
I had and still often have the same problem with my Edge 500. Make sure its set to speed and cadence sensor rather than speed/ cadence, and then search for the cadence sensor.
Usually my speed sensor works first time, but on one of my bikes saved on the garmin the cadence sensor needs searching for, which is a bit of a pain but as I don't use it often it's not such an issue for me.0 -
This information is the Edge 800 but it did help me solve a problem I was having.

It may be of help with your Edge 500!0 -
Thanks for the replies. Managed to get it working in the end. I had to go through the whole initial setup for it to find it mind.0
