Where from? I can only seem to find one UK online store and they only have 32 hole versions.

Anyone know of anywhere? Cheers.

Nice one thanks Keezx, they seem to have 28H in stock now so that's definitely an option. This is for a mate who is dithering over rim choice so by the time he decides we might have all of them available in the UK

D'yknow I searched on Bike24 with "dt r460" and came up with nothing, I thought that was odd, they normally have DT rims aplenty. Turns out that space between the r and the 460 is important! Thanks for that, all coming together nicely. These look like very cheap/reasonable rims for what they are, a real alternative to the ubiquitous Archetype perhaps?

For me it was, they look better and have machined brake tracks....
Not perfect round (at least mine), so might be a bit more timeconsuming to build.

If they are not round then the only way to make them round is to put uneven tension on the spokes.

If that is the norm with these rims then they will be not much use at all. How far out of round are they Keezx or was it only and the join. If the bump is at the join ignore it and dont try to true it, you only comprimise the wheel in doing so.

Wasn't much really, < 1 mm in height.
Was sorted long before full tension.

Typically the difference between a cheap and an expensive rim is all in the presence or absence of that dreaded bump. It's not an issue if it's there, but if you build wheels for others, you hate seeing that thing, understandably, as it makes the final build look amateurish... hence why rims with the "bump" are not enjoying much popularity among builders...

So, in conclusion, while cheap (£50 incl. del. from Bike24 for a pair!!) they may not be the Archetype-killer I first thought?

If you want a tubeless rim with that kind of quality, then the RR 440 might be the one to look at... there is also a rear offset, which is nice... Starbike have them for very reasonable money

TBH , there was no obvious bump im the rims, the nipples were 2 different lengths mixed, so I had to true outsome height difference from the start.
When someone from the club askes me to build a cyclocross set for the next winter, I will do it without hesitation with the R460's ....

Bumping this thread to see what people's opinions of these rims are a couple of years down the line.

I'm looking for some 32H rims for a winter wheelset and at £35, these seem like a solid, relatively inexpensive option.

How have you guys fared with your R460 rims and are there any better options I should be looking at around this price point?

    Thanks!

my opinion is simple pointless for the rim rake version Kinlin have a rim that is a bit lighter a bit wider and asymmetric fro the rear. Same price also so reall there is point is using them. I don't use the R460 (I sell a few though) simply because of this and they are not that round ~0.7mm to 1mm roundness.

The disc brake version is typically 0.7mm to 1mm out of round (not at the join) but it is cheap and it only use is for dynamo hub builds which normally need a symmetric a rim other default to the Kinlin disc brake rims which are asymmetric.

So in short there are better rims.

Malcolm don't know if you're referring to the Kinlin XR22Ts but I've finally built up the ones you supplied me with and they are very nice indeed. Built onto Hope Mono RS with Laser/D-Lite

Nothing to complaint about, built 2 sets and use them. Do what they have to do.
    Good allround cheap rim.

Yes munster that rim. Keez exactly my opinion if the kinlin did not exist then they would be spot on. But the kinlin does exist so those who pick the r460 are actually deciding for a dished rear wheel to have a wheel is less robust as an asymmetric rim will always build a "stronger" wheel. By that i mean one that can take higher radial and lateral loads before spokes de tension.

The one thing in the r460's favour is you can fit velox cloth tape and still get clincher on. There i have found something i like aboug it.
