Fed up with new bike envy every year I've fancied going down the route of bespoke steel, I had Matt of Eighteen Bikes in Hope Valley fabricate a made to measure frame for me. Paint is by Tom from Feld cycles.

Mostly SRAM red with Spyre brakes, Whisky No9 road fork with maxle, Farsport 24/30mm tubeless rims with Novatec 771/2 hubs, Schwalbe One tyres, Deda Superleggera seat post, bars and stem and with Extralite finishing kit. I went with SRAM force crank with Extralite chainrings as Red and Force carbon chainset doesn't suit the bike. Hopefully real Zipps to come when funds allow.

Rides very smoothly, feels fast and agile. Very pleased with it.

The planned design...

Let me be the first to congratulate you on a great looking build. You've certainly passed on the bike envy.

Thanks! But it has come at a cost - I promised the Mrs no new bike related purchases for 2 years! It's worth it though!

Just buy stuff and say that they are for the "old" bike...

Lovely build, that wishbone is a thing of beauty! What weight do the wheels come out at by the way? Not keen on the fake zipp stickers though...each to they're own I suppose.
  • Very nice. Can't really see on the pictures but what seat post are you using?

Thanks ravey. I think the wheels are supposed to be about 1510g, but I haven't weighed them. Actually, the only genuine thing about the wheels is the green Zipp stickers! I managed to get yellow ones to match but they are fake.

In the pictures it's a Bontrager race lite, but it's now been swapped to a Deda Superleggera to match the stem and bars.
  • That's a very snazzy build, the black gloss paint is really to my liking with some of the extra touches. We'll done!
