Are these the correct cartridge bearing replacements for my gritty wobbly front R5 hub?

The original bearings used in these and other Campag hubs are poor quality, which is why you are having to swap them.
You would be better advised getting equivalent SKF or similar.
I think these are the correct size https://www.thebearingcompany.co.uk/pro ... oduct=72330 -
A quick google suggests that the bearings you need are 28x12x8 rather than the 30x17x7 recommended by SheffSimon

My point of reference is this post

but before you take the plunge I'd recommend a bit more research or wait for a definitive reply from someone who has first hand experience0 -
I swapped one bearing on the rear wheel of my 2011 Roubaix, which is branded "Racing 4", and apparently a R5 hub with R3 rim. I'll check the size of the spare, as I bought a pair from simplybearings for just over a tenner- the size is marked on the bearing seal and I think it was 6001-2RS. Easy job if you have a freewheel remover and ten minutes.Location: ciderspace0

That will be great - thanks in advance.0 -
Close - 6001-2RSL. From memory, it was the drive side that had failed.
Page at Simply Bearings; I must have been swayed to splurge on low friction seals, but not extravagant enough to go for ceramic bearings...Location: ciderspace0 -

Out of interest, how many miles have you done on the current bearings and through what sort of weather conditions? I ask as I have also got R5s and, although mine are the LG 2014 version, I suspect they have the same bearings.Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

3500 miles of Scottish back roads..... In a variety of weather and winter crap. So not been kept as besties
Not cleaned as much as I should either, so on balance £20 or so to repair after 3500 miles versus the time cleaning every second ride or so is a good investment (sorry again Ugo)0 -

That's good to know and, if your experience is anything to go by, I won't have to worry about bearings for a long time yet as mine will never get treated the same as yours. Even though they are on my best bike, I am a soft southerner and, whereas I don't mind the cold, I absolutely hate cold when combined with the wet.
