I bought a new bike last year and I kitted it out with a pair of the new Conti GP4000s ii tyres with a green sidewall.
I thought I would purchase a second pair just in case so I ordered them from Evans Cycles. That was back in August last year.I have had around 9 order updates with the latest this morning telling me they are expecting them in around June of this year.Thats a whole 10 months they have had my cash sitting in their accounts.Needless to say I have just phoned them, vented my anger at a guy who didn't seem to give a toss so I have decided on a refund.
Has anyone else had problems with getting hold of these tyres and if anyone knows where I can get the green/black ones from please let me know.
I will never deal with Evans again.

To be fair on Evans - this appears to be a supplier issue. No one appears to have (ever had?) stock of the coloured GP4000s II tyres.

They can't send you what they don't have.

    You are very patient.

Green ? I think the fashion police have confiscated all stock,

Just go black - it makes sense.

As far as Evans not being able to send me what they haven't got then my answer to that is-Why advertise them in the first place then?
As far as the colour goes, well that's a personal choice and as it is just a very thin stripe that runs right up to the rim it doesn't look to in your face at all.
Seems to blend in nicely with the bike.

Yup, not Evans fault they can't supply, everywhere is out of stock of them. I managed to get some 25mm versions (they only come in black) but even that was a few weeks wait.

You can't bash Evans too badly for this one Castakid.
They did send you updates, based on what their suppliers were giving them, so it was really out of their hands (I guess they expected them a lot sooner too, hence why they remain an option on the site).

You also had the option of a refund at any time - as the tyres are available nowhere in Europe by the looks of things, then you can't be too hard on them. The only problem I would have is if you got poor customer service on the phone call you were talking about.
I had to order some specialist BMC bits from their special orders dept last week who were very helpful, and everything arrived from Switzerland within 6 days.

Theres always a case to highlight bad service, but in this case I'm not sure what you actually expected Evans to do - the fault lies with Continental or their distributors who have given false hope that the products would be made available.

Hope you get some sorted out soon.

They, like many other retailers, appear to have been screwed over by Conti, who have launched something that they don't appear to be able to make - has anyone ever seen the coloured versions in the wild (other than at shows etc.)?

OK - some on-line retailers (including Wiggle) have software that identifies outstanding orders over X months old and cancels them, issues refund etc., Evans clearly don't, but you could have cancelled at any point.

It really isn't Evans fault, though I accept that they could have cancelled your order and refunded you months ago, but equally, you could have done that yourself anyway.

(this is turning into a bit of I blame Wiggle!)

Just posted on another thread that I gave up waiting for a set (although not green) after 9 weeks and bought some Vittoria Open Corsa's instead. Actually a much nicer tyre anyway so I'm really happy. They do the Open Pave with a green wall if you must have the colour.

    30 days

sec 42 The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013

Of course they would argue that the contract ts and cs state the order isn't accepted until they confirm shipping.

in which case you'd refer to The Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999
