Last summer I tried to join my local club after returning back home after 30 and completed the application forms and posted them. Heard nothing till Jan this year informing me my application had been refused, so then requested a explanation why I have been denied membership. To date no reply has been received

After 30???? Years? Months?
Were you previously a member?
Surprised anyone is refusing new members tbh ... Surely they should explain why??
Are you naming & shaming?Still thinking of something clever to say!0 -
If it was 30 years for multiple murder I can sympathise with the club somewhat!
Not that I would refuse you I should add. No way.0 -

If this post is anything to go by, then you probably didn't give the club enough information...0 -

Perhaps they remember you.
Try joining a rival local club or just turn up for ther sunday run?0 -
I contacted two local clubs via e-mail (each at more than one address) and neither replied. I joined another club that did reply.
Looking at it from another perspective I've known a lot of people leave clubs but many don't provide an explanation.0 -
I don't think most cycling clubs are that organised yet. Your email is probably sat unread somewhere.
Best bet is just turn up and introduce yourself.Bianchi Intenso Athena

The club's were organised enough to have websites stating if you want to join email this person and one also had a web form. The was also up to date stuff on each of the web-site. As stated have now joined another club that did respond.
I understand that everyone working for a club is an unpaid volunteer. I've been a club: Chairman, Treasurer, BC secretary, road race organiser and commissaire, ......
But if you take on a role you need to do it.0 -
Did you put your subs in with the application?0
-
I cant think that our club ever turned anyone down.
Did you have unpaid subs or something ?0 -
Personnally, I wouldn't have applied to aclub I hadn't ridden out with/met, to make sure I got on with them first!0

Find out where the clubroom is and what day they meet and go along introduce yourself and see what type of reception you receive, do a couple of club runs to see what you think about the set up before deciding whether to join.0

With our club we'd invite people to ride for a few weeks to see if they got on with us rather than joining first and then riding.
You dont want anyone to join who dislikes the people in the club - they'll just not turn up for runs or marshalling etc.0
