DIY wheel build - spec advice

Hi guys,
I'm about to embark on my first wheel build from scratch. Trouble is I really don't know where to start and what I should think about using. I am a recent convert from MTb's so am a little unsure what rims etc would be best and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I weight 75kg and mainly ride around the Brighton area so hills are pretty short and punchy which is something I strangely enjoy and seem to be good at. I do a mix of sportives, audax and long weekend rides mixed with a couple of rides in the evenings each week.
I've previously been a bit of a weight weeny and am looking for something light and fast
Got a budget of about £350 in total which I realise probably isn't a great deal.
Can anyone help me with regards to what they would use if they were building their own set of wheels?
Before I forget I will need the rear hub to be Campag compatible.
Thanks for any help
