Route from Manchester to Windemere

Can anyone recommend any routes or point me to a GPX for a road ride up from Manchester to the Lake District.

Have only ever been up there on the M6!

    Try google maps and use the cycle option ?

    It suggests national route 55 or route 68 for starters.
