would appreciate some assistance - really trying to squeeze my current two bikes into one here.( carbon Giant Defy and a racy cross bike )
- want something more robust but not a tourer
- not too heavy yet comfy
- off road ( gravel tracks ) capability
thinking of decent Steel 725 / 931 or cheap Ti !!
like the look of the Genesis disc and the Salsa Colossus 2 also the Croix De Fer

Sounds like you already have the perfect solution in two bikes. The Salsa looks good though.0

I have the equilibrium disc 20, excellent ride and handling, takes 28mm tyres - even with 'guards if you want despite what Genesis say. The CdF is more laid back/less racy/more tourer like.0

I like the look of the Salsa but don't know if i takes guards. From experience I can say that Genesis makes some decent road bikes - comfortable & good value.
Personally though I'd go alu & save some weight. With larger tyres at the right pressure, will be very comfortable - plus a good alu frame is often comfortable anyway. Look at the Whyte range.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
