Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a Bizango soon as a decent MTB/ occasional commuter, however I'm interested in how much people have bought their bizango for.
I know halfords have deals pretty much all year round but I'm 16 and would rather not spend more than I have to.

I also wondering if people have managed to get any pedals or things thrown in for free, after I noticed today the stock ones seem terrible.
Thanks
Turbote

  • Hi,
I used the info here http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/22-off-any-purchase-halfords-1603626?p=18531088
to get about 22% discount. Quidco had an extra Halfords cashback deal at the time so it was a bit more.

Got my Bizango for £440 - didn't ask for any extras.

    Good Luck

Stock pedals should be terrible, why fit good ones when many people will change them anyway for SPD, CB's clipless, good quality flats or even toe straps!

Decent alloy pedals cost very little anyway.

The better the deal you get, the less likely they are to throw stuff in, but given how cheap pedals are (for example) you are better off with the deal than better pedals!

BC membership (Circa £20 to save 10%) and quidco are two good ways to save. you can also order online for collection boxed and save a bit.

Keep an eye on the Halfords website and sign up for email alerts as they often have a flash discount sale.
There was 13% off everything last Friday online between 12:00 and 14:00hrs.

Sign up for British Cycling and get your membership card and use it to get 10% off.
You can also usually find deals on line to buy gift vouchers at a discounted price too,

Wait for an online deal, reserve for collection, present discount card and pay balance with either gift vouchers or sign up for quidco and get cash back (usually around 2 - 3%).

    Good luck!

How does this method work with cycle to work? Is it one or another or can I get a further 40% off?

I think it's one or the other - fairly certain you can't use BC discount on cycle to work.

Think it'll be full price unless you happen to get a quote when the bike is in the sales.

I'm also 16 with a Bizango, but got £100 off it when my old Carrera broke.

Pretty impressive being 16 and on a 40% tax rate.

Or is daddy doing a little tax fraud?

Maybe he's just read the 'save up to 40%' and isn't a 40% tax payer, in which case he'll save 31% (Tax plus NI).

If you are getting it on Halfords Ride to work scheme, you won't be able to take advantage of anything but longer term offers, you have a choice of how to buy it, but can't stack all the offers up!

Unfortunately I'm no longer 16. Don't even know if I can remember being 16. I'm just thread hijacking.

No tax fraud here, just honestly requiring a nice new bike for travelling to clients, all for business use you see.

Thanks for the help so far guys, just ordered my BC membership card, should be here around next Monday.

I'm just wondering if the Halfords vouchers are legit, and whether the staff would actually accept ~£500 of vouchers without any issues?
    Thanks!
  • I was sceptical about using all these discounts in one purchase but it does work.

Vouchers are legit - I used £480 worth with no problems.
