Charles Kennedy on BBC QT

I'm not a regular viewer of Question Time, as Mrs Goo has to remove all throwable objects from the lounge and get the straight jacket on stand-by. But last night it was quite sad to see that the Beeb allowed Charles Kennedy to sit on the panel when clearly he was not fit to do so. I cannot say whether this is due to his long documented fight with alcoholism or not. He appeared distant and disengaged from the debates, continually requesting the question be repeated. And the way he signed off was quite bizarre, by paraphrasing Gone with the Wind's 'Frankly, I don't give a damn'.

Bizarre, amusing and sad.

  • I agree not good to watch. He looked very tired.

I only caught the last fifteen minutes and I was quite shocked that there appeared to be something wrong with Charles Kennedy as he is usually a good contributor. I could not work out whether he had been on the pop or was just very tired and run down.

Ian Hislop is obviously aware something is not quite right, judging by his demeanour.
