Since purchasing a Stages Power Meter, my Garmin Edge 500 has stopped recording/calculating calories.
Any ideas how I can kick it back into touch?

I had this as well. My 500 stopped recording calories. I sorted it by changing my profile "Activity Class" setting. I changed mine from a 10 to a 7, and it seems to have fixed the issue and calories are again calculating correctly.0

That might be what caused mine, as I had increased my activity level at the same time I bought the Stages.
I will set it to something else, and see if it starts to record again - thanks!0 -

I doubt that VERY much 8)0 -
I'd have thought calories from a power meter would be fairly accurate ? Nothings 100% mind you - but better than without one.0

well - according to this:

it prefers hrm over power meter ...
I didn't think anybody took any notice of the calorie count anyway ..0 -
You should now pay attention to kJ, which the PM will tell you very accurately. Calories have always been an estimation. There are numerous factors which affect the conversion between kJ of work and kCal burnt, but it's nearly 1:1. Technically speaking 1kCal=4.184kJ, but thermal losses and other inefficencies mean you burn about 1kCal per kJ rather than only 0.2kCal per kJ.0

Don't worry, I don't really use the calories data - it was more just an annoyance that it disappeared.0
