Hi all

I'm looking for a budget wheelset, I'd rather not spend much more than £150, but trying to keep the weight down if I can.

26"
QR
10 speed
Suitable for red routes but nothing too extreme.
I weigh 80kg and I'd rather not build my own wheels.

Thank you

    At that price point, there are very few options that can even come close to Superstar Components - have a look at the different options on their website.

    Just been there. Looked at these;

    Do you reckon they are tough enough for red routes like Dalby?

    Don't know anything about the Sentinel rims (or Dalby for that matter). They're a nice light build, though, and at that price they've got to be worth a shot.

    The Sentinal rims will be made by a larger supplier, Superstar used to use Mach1 rims, not sure if they still do but that weight is almost identical to the set I had with Superstar hubs, plain guage spokes and 'Vapour' rims which were Mach-1 MX rims rebranded, so probably still the MX rim - the rim profile does look very similar http://www.mach1.fr/composants/pages/jante.aspx?id=52

    I have no doubts that they will cope with reds no issue, my much lighter Alpines cope with my ham fisted 95Kg (ready to ride weight) no problem, despite the 75kg weight limit.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Shimano entry level mtb wheels are pretty god for you pay. I am sure merlin or similar will have a crazy deal, they always do.
