Hi All,

Wanting to buy some more bib shorts and matching jersey and just wanting some recommendations as there's so much on the market at the moment!

I like the look of these Ale bib shorts http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/ale-ale-trade-ultra-canale-bib-shorts/aid:727297?gclid=CO773-SdoMQCFRHHtAodAA8AgQ - has anyone tried these shorts?

My biggest problem is sizing, i'm 6ft4 and rake thin. I've tried Castelli and Altura but nothing comes long enough in the leg without being loose on the leg grippers.

Budget is about £130ish for bibs and jersey.

Kind regards

James

I cant comment on the sizing for somebody with your proportions but i bought a pair of Ale shorts and i am very impressed with them.

A bit cheaper than the likes of assos, rapha and castelli but the quality is just as good and the pad works well for me. Have been out on a number of 4 hour+ rides in them and no discomfort at all.

Thanks for the reply, sounds like I might give them a go then. Are they typical Italian sizes, i.e need to order the next size up?

If you are long of limb, the Assos S5 Mille may suit - they were offered with a longer leg length option and I presume could still be found with a bit of hunting on the interweb at a reasonable price ie less than RRP.

Have a look at Santini Edge shorts, I am a skinny 6'5" and always struggled to find shorts cut long enough, but these are great.

Excellent service from Prendas as well.

Being tall and very slim you are going to struggle with getting the right size. I am 6ft7 and find the largest size for castelli fits me fine and is the right leg length. You may have to settle for less leg length but good fitting bib shorts. I find gore jerseys and jackets have long arms arm and good length but again in the largest size.

Appreciate the replies guys, i'd love them Assos Long leg bib shorts but they're just a bit too expensive for me. The Santini Edge look nice and simple and would go with all my other jerseys. I have two Santini jerseys at the moment and they are just pure quality.

CC78, what size did you go for and what height and weight are you?

    Regards

size L... I'm 6'5", 77kg (my inside leg is ~35" and the shorts come to just above the knee)

If you email Prendas and tell them your measurements they will get the right size for you.

I ordered the size suggested on their sizing guide and found it pretty much perfect.

Im 6ft and 75kg so a pretty normal size and went for a L. Im a large in most brands and found the fit to be similar to my Large Assos bibs

  • With regards to Assos, look at their factory outlet shop http://www.assosfactoryoutlet.com. They do a lot of their old styles at reduced prices. I've bought a few things from them and they have been excellent.
