Castelli bib short repair

I snagged my bib shorts in the washing machine. Now have a small 10p type size hole in the thigh area.

Has anyone managed to repair these and what did you use? Looking online there is a various ways. Happy to use thread and needle. But any particular kind of thread? Nylon?

Or do it the easy way and use a patch? Its not mega noticable and they are my commuting pair but will last another year or so.

Dont really want to bin them as they do fit. Albeit a little on the loose side

My wife just sewed mine with some black cotton thread, still going strong a year later!
