2 days after coming 7th in the Clasica de Almeria. And he'd had a 'good start' to his season....

I thought the French didn't dope?

It's also another positive from an MPCC team. How long is that organisation going to be around for?

Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

You wonder why he bothered. He apparently had a contract until the end of 2016 by which he would have been at AG2R for 13 seasons with next to no results. So his future wouldn't have been dependent on that. What was he hoping to achieve?

Perhaps. But why keep going now? It's not like he's expected to win. By this stage his career his future isn't going to rest on 5% gains.

He needed the dope just to sit on the autobus, but work ethic not allowing him to sit on the bench collecting a paycheck? Fed up not having any major wins to his name with his career coming to an end?

Or, for the benefits of his lawyers, his b-sample will come back negative and it's just one of those things.

Even with a two year ban it would have been. He offers little of note to a World Tour team and all the Pro Conti teams are in the MPCC.

So are all the teams with riders getting busted.

The MPCC is perfectly summed up by the CIRC section on p67 that says one of its key managerial members - "senior person in a prominent anti-doping movement" - is running a team-wide doping programme. A haven for hypocrits.

It's an interesting one. You could argue the reverse of what you're saying i.e. because he is near retirement he has decided that it's worth the risk to try and collect a few more wins in some chipper or other. Either way it shows absolutely no compunction about doping.

That was when it was Nitrous Oxide vs 4 Star. These days it appears to be more Super Unleaded vs Unleaded (or in Wiggo's case, Diesel, or for Cheng Ji, hybrid as he always drops down towards the end)

More significant (imo) is that Lavenu is hanging him out to dry.

Why do people assume he started doping now?
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

EPO's fairly punchy. Presumably he was worried that he wouldn't get to 2016 with some artificial assistance. Maybe he got to 2015 relying on it?

Exactly. He could easily have been getting away with it for years. Just an unlucky out of competition strike.

Team doctors want him to explain his actions: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/mondory ... g2r-doctor

"Asked about Mondory’s use of EPO, Bouvat commented: “It is really important for him to explain his actions, as that would help us to increase our understanding of this problem.”

Errr..... do they want him to explain how he got away with it for so long so they can educate their other riders not to make the same mistakes?

They say they have an internal testing system in place to prevent this type of positive. How is that different from UCI testing?

But maybe he didn't get away with it for so long. Maybe he only recently started. And if that is the case it is certainly does merit finding out why he did it.
