I contemplated taking my mudguards off for Sunday's ride - That was until i saw the weather forecast and got thoroughly soaked...

The first day of Spring is a week on Saturday....

I've had my TT bike out a few times in the last couple of weeks (which I don't think I've ever taken out in the rain), and the first TT of the year on Saturday afternoon was also my first ride of the year with bare legs if that counts

I got it out on Saturday in an attempt to bring it back to roadworthiness. (we're talking about the bike now) New bearings in the hubs, drizzled a bit of oil into the back of the freehub, fitted some nice new Pro4 SC 25mm tyres*. New chain, cassette and one chainring. Replaced the LH shifter with an Ebay bargain. Might need to take another link out of the chain, then just got to set up the gears and retape the bars and we're good to go!

Still happy on the winter bike for my evening rides; some of the lanes I use don't dry out at all at this time of year and I don't want to be spraying myself with slurry in the dark.

*used the opportunity to test my new Lezyne HP Drive mini pump. Quite impressed with how quickly / easily I could get them up to pressure, so all good!

My summer bike's staying put till I can regain some sort of fitness to be worthy of riding it, till then it's my trusty Defy.

Not sure that it is fair for me to join this thread :D

Anyway, I went out yesterday on my Sunday bike, even though I knew it was Wednesday, it was warm sunny and fairly wind free and felt like an English summer day, or at least how I choose to remember them,

Might as well put the mudguards back on, todays lunch hour will see me splitting wood for the log burner in readiness for the cold snap we due to get.

I haven't taken my summer bike out yet but have bought a new winter bike a Kinesis Racelight T2. It looks very shiny and new and a bit like this.

But that isn't mine as I don't know how to add photo's.

Yep, been out on it most rides this year, but went out on summer wheels for the first time last weekend and came off in a big way. Possibly not the best decision of my life so far. Carbon doesn't melt in the rain, but race tubs don't grip on diesel either.

You'd have come off anyway; nothing grips on diesel. I've had the car go sideways on me with very little provocation on roundabouts where lorries frequently spill the stuff.

I don't have a summer bike yet, but my Kinesis will be receiving new wheels in the next day or two that should prove a worthy upgrade.

    I did over the weekend.

Nice sunny day I thought, must be spring....

.... Few miles down the road it must have recently rained. I spent the rest of the ride on my crud free pride and joy, swerving about, trying to avoid the puddles and find dry lines.

Last night I got the cheaper winter workhorse back out.

Im off work tomorrow so going on a nice 100km ride. Im currently debating this in my head. Was going to get the summer bike out on Sunday but decided against it due to the wind (deep rims).

Its sitting in the house at the moment looking beautifully clean so i just hope the roads arent still full of crap !!

Yes but am so unfit that I was an embarrassment to myself and the bike so put it away again and got the winter clunker out in a vain attempt to regain form and fitness.

I don't have a summer bike and winter bike per se. But I have a cheaper mudguard bike and a race bike. Although I use the mudguard bike without mudguards for circuit races...

Anyhoo, had a glorious billy jaunt out on the race bike in the Peak District on Tuesday, some good PBs up a couple of longer hills too.

Got my race bike (summer) bike for a spin, doing a race in a few weeks so need to get used to it and really glad I did. My legs have seized, and aching in places that I haven't in a while! Such a different riding position to my klunker

Mmmmmm Colnago Extreme Power :P - mine has done 2km only this year so far as I've just built it. Can't wait for the weather to get better, I'm still using the winter bike at the moment

The Helium has been out a few times and got really dirty on a club run when it had to be used when the Icarus got a puncture(too late to change a tube),will be used regularly now unless the weather is really bad.

Had mine out yesterday. Much as I love my Allez (winter bike), it was a joy to be out on the summer bike again. Clocks go forward in a week or so, bring on the summer evening rides :D
