Simple multitool

I've got a Topeak multitool that has served me well and has everything I need on it, but the problem is it's also got lots I don't need. I think the only tools I've used while out and about are the Philips, the 4 and 5mm hex plus (once) the chain splitter.

Trying to fit all those other parts in renders many of them unusable, so I wondered if there might be a simpler way to carry what you might need and strip away the rest.

Tools with chain splitters tend to the the fullest ones, so maybe I'm better off with a small chain tool that I can stash or leave at home depending on the type of ride.

I saw this and thought it might be a much better solution: http://fixitsticks.com/

What do you use, and what has caught you out in the past?

Planet x Jobsworth Spygadget is worth a look. You can remove the bits you don't need.

If you want to go full weight weenie. You can remove the chain tool from a Lezyne (S)V10 that weighs 17 grams.

Also an SKS 8 microtool has hex keys and a screwdriver bit that weigh 14.5 grams. You can use this for a handle with chain tool above.

    This what i carry

    Its a phone:-)
I carry the fixit sticks and a brute chain breaker. Wish fixit sticks would release a chain breaker add on as promised.
Am I the only one that can never break a chain on a multi tool.

Topeak Link11 is a very handy folding chaintool, folds to the size of a fag lighter and works perfectly well. There's just enough room inside it when folded to hold an 11-speed Missinglink, too, which is a bonus.

I don't know about weight weenie.. you've got enough stuff there to sink an oil tanker :-)

For me its one tube, two levers, one pump, couple of stick on patches and tiny mini-tool only 280gms according to my kitchen scales. And it annoys me that i bother with the tool!
I do usually carry my phone too, if there's any bigger disaster i resort to that.

In the good old days, all you needed was one tub..... that was it!

Also just bought the Planet-X Spygadget linked above - if you want screwdriver as well then this looks just the ticket.
