Powertap SL+ issues

My powertap SL+ has developed an "interesting" feature where it now seems to get through batteries (silver oxide) in a couple of days. My first thought was that it was not going into sleep mode but have checked this and it is. After a couple of days if I put a new set of batteries in it all springs to life, no water in the hub etc. Solution at the moment is to pull batteries out after ride and put back in when I want to use again - anyone had the same issue ? Thanks.

Ate you using quality batteries such as Energizer? I had issues like yours with a Pro+ hub when I used Boots own brand batteries. And are you using the right type? The Pro+ was SR44 (LR44 fit but only last a few days).

Thanks for the reply - yes using Duracell 357 303 SR44 silver oxide batteries. If I carry on taking the batteries out and re-inserting the unit is faultless (no drop outs etc) - just a bit of a pain.

All you can do then is try a new battery holder and maybe leave the cap off the hub for a day just incase there is a little bit of moisture in there. If that doesn't sort it, the only option is back to Paligap who will likely tell you it needs a new torque tube and charge you >£400.

Tried a new battery holder but will leave hub open just in case. Paligap would be the last resort but I think I will live with the issue for the moment as the readings are fine.
  • Replacement of the torque tube is Paligap standard response. Oh and don't expect a quick turnaround or any kind of customer service. Or at least that was my experience.
