Gloves

I currently have two pairs of gloves, an old pair of specialized by MTB long finger gloves, and some Lizard Skin waterproof and wind proof gloves.

The MTB gloves are good, apart from the fact they are wearing out and need to be replaced. The Seal Skins are ok, but they keep the sweat in, and if you take them off mid ride, and try and put them back on, the lining bunches and they are a real struggle.

So I'm in the market for a couple of new gloves, a cold weather wind proof glove and a summer glove. Both of my current gloves have padding on the palm, and I think I will want this on the new ones too.

Any recommendations? Are all wind/water proof gloves bad at breathing?

Gore Bike Wear Power gloves work for me in winter. Not waterproof but windstopper fabric so good on cold, dry days and don't get too sweaty.

Most of winter I've been fine with the defeet wooly gloves, and swapping to sealskins in the wet.

I know what you mean regarding the SealSkins waterproof gloves, once they get sweaty then taking them off with the intention of putting them back on is a real pain due to the liner.

I have used mine through winter, but always cary a spare pair of something a little lighter as I tend to get clammy hands after a short while. I have these, and even though they aren't cycling specific (they don't have padding), they have been excellent - not waterproof but windstopping and because mine aren't a snug fit, the extra 'wiggle-room' means they actually stay warmer than if they were close fitting.

So is it mainly just the waterproof gloves that keep the sweat in - with windproof gloves being better at breathing?

I have a Gore windstopper jersey, and with just a base layer underneath it is warm enough for most of the riding I do - so if the gloves are that good, maybe that's what I should go for.

    Do you mean these?

They look like just what I've been looking for.

I really rate the Endura Dexter gloves. Nice and windproof and will help to keep your hands warm when it rains a bit too. I like the fact that they are not too bulky so I can play with the Garmin or get food out/unwrapped without too much fuss. They are not up to heavy rain at 3-5 degrees temp, but I try and avoid that when I can or wear proper winter gloves if I can't (and accept that I will have to stop now and then).

I have worn the Dexters for every ride bar 2 for the last 5 months.

Lancew - the Gore gloves I have are these, not the ones you posted the link to:

Got ya. I saw the two types.

I've been after something that is between my winter waterproof Endura gloves and my long fingered Specialized spring/summer gloves. I don't like short gloves on longer rides as I find that the rubber on my hoods starts to disagree with my soft accountant fingers after about 5 hours.
