Is it worth taking my cycling kit in the suitcase over to the island?
There just a week at end of the month, it's a sort of R&R week, I''ll have done a couple of races beforehand... possibly just to like to stretch the legs ... but I dont pick up the racing again until the 12th April.
Fully kitted gym at the hotel with lardy recumbents ...

Just in case anyone googles.... Madeira...
top tip... dont bother with a road bike.. it is very much an MTB island... there are some very challenging routes to be had it appears.
I'd think from one side of the island to the other, you would wear out a set of brake pads.. there are no sweeping roads a la Mallorca.

Pretty amazing place though! But, yes, I don't think there's much for the road cyclist really - many of the roads are long tunnels, and those that are not are insane gradients and lots of abandoned roads on the coasts from pre-tunnel days.

Some of the mountain biking looked amazing though.

Great food too - especially espetada!
