Weetabix for breakfast, porridge would have been better. Not got any lunch so I shall have to go in search of something. The choice is Sainsbury's, Tesco Metro, cafe, chippy or Greggs. Sainsbury's £3 meal deal usually wins I get a fancy sandwich a bottle of juice and some crisps. Might buy some biscuits too, maybe even some fruit. I'm waiting on a cup of tea at the moment, should have a wee to make space for it.
Anyway it's Wednesday so pub for me later, that can only be a good thing. Maybe we should change the name from humpday to pubday.
Tea has arrived, I haven't had my wee yet though. I'd better go I guess.

Humpday it is, landed home, off to work, dressed for Italy and the weather is British.

Thank you all for your concern, however unlike some others I have not gone MIA (KIA?) or become a lurker (Arran).

Ankle is still fuber but hey, I did consider resigning and moving to Florence even if there are too many American students (where bad Americans go to live?)

I most certainly did not ride a bike, and yes the invasion of crudders is worrying, however at least they provide amusing company.

Uffizi, probably the most overrated museum going, at least it was free.

    Thank you for your concern

    Kind Regards

Political prevarication, perfidiousness and procrastination in Portugal causing purposeful puzzlement and perplexity to one particular person !?

Just waiting for that porridge to reach the parts that other cereals cannot reach and the weather to improve a tad so I can go and pedal some.
Coffee is far too good sometimes. Thank you to Bialetti, Lavazza and some Colombian farmers.

    Laters.

My old man went to Italy for 5 days to be best man at a wedding some years back. Called work and said he wasn't going back. Wound up staying for quite a few years and marrying the younger sister from the original wedding.

Too many unfinished chapters at home (is that even a reason?), and my bikes. Eyeing up a move to Australia if I can find a proper job with a years contract and mother will keep the dogs (which she will)

I find it odd that with Italy we always associate the place with the Romans yet the more I see of it the more I just think mediaeval renaissance is what remains and is what is shown off.

Yes, Verona has loads of both, beautiful town.
I love Italy but couldn't live there. Just the sheer amount of faffing by the people and bureaucracy if you're trying to get anything done are too much for me. Great place for holidays though.
Australia doesn't appeal to me, full of Australians. Don't tell Wheelspinner I said that though.

Boot camp last night, HIT so I was foobared going to bed.

Alarm set for 6am as I'd planned a small 50km ride before a late site meeting. Couldn't sleep, sweating, couging up crap and sniffling.

Woke up properly with a cold at 5.55 (5 minutes before alarm went off), pilled up and went back to bed.

Now sat in my office drinking Lemsip

Who the feck are you? And will you be joining us on 26th June?

    Evening people,

I'm headed home to feed my face and follow the footy. Work was surprisingly relaxed after we got a few stupid projects kicked into the long grass. The joys of office politics...

More silliness in the land of sheep and rain going uphill with assistance and downhill on scaffolding clad with kevlar, knee pads, incontinence pads and crash helmets. They call themselves 'cyclists'.

Not much tbh, I could be in Aus by then if I find a job. Could just man up and use the CX bike, better brakes and handling.

Fook United and there last minute luck

Matt h did it on a hard tail (after a night on the lash) and came through completely unscathed. In fact he's going back :) Easy peasy.

That's because the alcohol dulled his senses and acted as an anaesthetic. FFS, don't let matt go down the hill sober.

We call ourselves 'mountain bikers' to distinguish ourselves from 'cyclists' who seem to think that you will fall off the edge of the earth if you leave tarmac while on two wheels :)

Not much chance of that :D Suppose it does help to be relaxed, bit like beer skiing.

Pinno: Why on earth do you want to get in a van and then go downhill for a few minutes on a bike?
    Stevo: Because it is fun.
Pinno: You do realise that there are millions of cyclists who like riding uphill and then downhill as fast as they can under their own steam?
    Stevo: That's just crazy.
Pinno: Some road cyclists may think you are just a lazy fecker and what you actually do is not cycling but some sort of gravity assisted sh!t on two wheels.
Stevo: Well they would, they just don't understand.

I wouldn't do that on a road bike, so why do it on a mountain bike?

Hmmm, tried that and failed. CX bikes are not great on bumpy downhill sections off road. If you try it take a change of undercrackers.

But at least I do road riding and mountain biking (including the odd bit of pedalling uphill)
