I currently use a Garmin Edge 200 which on the whole is fine. However looking for something with a bit more in terms of feedback and usefulness. Looking now for HRM and cadence and maybe the option of loading in a route that i can follow. Been looking on the bay at 2nd hand Edge 705`s and also Edge 500 ( no maps with that ). Don`t have masses of money to spend hence looking at the used market ? Can sell the Edge 200 on and recoop some of the cost ? Also spotted the GPS devices by MIO and also the Wahoo option which would work quite well with my iphone but can`t help thinking that might be a step back in time before I had a GPS ? Thoughts ?? Edge 705 old tech and not worth investing in or better saving my money and going for a 510 or 810 ? Any interest free deals online ?? :D

whilst I don't really want to encourage excess spending, if I were you i'd save up and get a newer one.

I have an edge 500 which is great, but Garmin have now stopped supporting this, so no more software updates and things, which probably won't matter but if I was in the market for one now i'd get the newest one I could so it would be supported for as long as possible.

Something like the 'Courses' feature on the Garmin Edge 200 you mean? ;-)

The one thing I don't like about the 200 is it only has 'smart' recording and I would love to have the 1s option.

Drop a gpx file into the 'new routes' folder, then select from the courses menu. There are a few websites that allow you to put waypoints in, which will also generate alerts (useful if you're on unfamiliar roads and want some warning that a turn is coming up without having to keep glancing down at the screen).

Do you have a lot of rides saved to the history? Could be there was not enough room for the file (particularly if you were trying to upload a tcx file, they seem to be about 3 times the size once waypoints have been added). The memory on the 200 is pitifully small.
