What headset

Hi all

Well, i bit the bullet and bought myself a PlanetX Exocet 2 TT frame. Got a really good price on it but it hasn't come with the headset bearings (or any headset at all). That's fine, it was a great price.

However, i am now utterly confused. Could someone please help me in locating the correct headset for the bike... I have been on cane creek and used their headset finder but then cannot seem to locate the right headset. Also, looking on Ribble, Wiggle and Planet X there are so many headsets with the same numbers but, apparently, different products, that I have become utterly lost. Any pointers, links etc. would be great.

Also, is fitting a headset something i should pass on to my LBS (am going to get them to fit the BB30). I haven't got a press but watching a recent GCN video it didn't seem as though one was needed. Perhaps i misunderstood. Again, any pointers etc. appreciated.

Planet X list an FSA C-40 headset for your frame. The crown race will need banging on over the bottom of the steerer but you can get round that by sawing a slot in it and it will push on. I did this with my recently purchased PX Pro Carbon frame and it works just fine. However, as you are taking the frame to your LBS anyway they'll press it on in minutes.

I saw that in the description of the frame, but couldn't work out which was the right headset on the website...

The Planet X website just says C-40 so I would go with that, but why not just give them a ring to make sure?
