or any other part of mainland UK come to think of it...
We've hired a camper van for our usual may tour and rather than our usual static base we want to either get somewhere a bit wilder or a few places to ride close together. Original plan was Skye, but am getting some very mixed messages as to whether it's the place to go. Don't know Scotland north of Pitlochry so any ideas, information or experience on where to ride would be greatly appreciated

Mull and the Ardnamurchan peninsula are great for cycling. Better than Skye, I reckon, which is more touristy with busier roads.0 -

If you really want to get away from it, you could up to Inverness and turn left, and maybe go and do the Bealach Na Ba sportive route 1 day, the Ullapool sportive route the next, amazing scenery round there and challenging cycling. You could then come down and some stuff around Aviemore(Cairngorm climb, the lecht, glenshee) or Pitlochry (Etape Caledonia Route).

Five ferries ride is a great 100 miler to do on one do your days. Beautiful scenery and mostly quiet roads.0

some great ideas there, the Etape cally route on the first day would be ideal and head across for th e5 ferries the next day. Stringybob, mileage on that one might be too much in the time we have, but looks fantastic for a future trip! - cheers allAll lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....0
