Taking play out of Rival shifters

Evening all
Does anyone know if there is a small adjuster on the lever somewhere to take the play from the first few mm of Rival brakes - ie span adjustment.
Thank you
M

Looking at this and your other post about the brake cables I'll just say that I have Rival shifters and I noticed that my left hand brake lever was not engaging in the same way as you mention (maybe 5mm before it bit, not springing back). After a bit of a clean today I squirted some GT45 into the moving bits of the brake calipers (not on the pads though, that's frowned upon apparently) and lo and behold the play had gone.
You sure your calipers *aren't* actually gunked? Not aware of an adjustment of the type you mention. You can adjust the lever reach but nothing to do with play as far as I know...
Edit: unless I am misunderstanding your symptoms and you DO just mean the reach adjustment? In which case you need point 9 on here http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/w ... rce-25902/0 -
Cool - thank you. Will give a good spraying tonight and see what happens.
Kind of frustrating really.
Thank you again.

To be honest I was fully expecting to need to replace cables since that's what it felt like as you said. Quite relieved but obviously you may not have the same issue.0

Problem solved - Shimano canle too thick to work in SRAM shifter - pop a SRAM cable in and all perfect.
Thank you for your help though - much appreciated.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
