Hi all!

Had this for nearly a year now and I love it! Don't see too many of them about, in fact I've not seen another one while out and about yet. Standard out as a standard bike and I have slowly added/replaced bits on it and now I am very proud of it. There are still a few bits left to change and these will be done soon, I'm also going tubeless next weekend.

The current spec:

Standard Felt Q920 19.5" frame
Mavic 317 wheelset with standard Shimano hubs
Shimano XT front and rear brakes with cooling fins and 203mm Superstar rotors
Shimano XT I-spec shifters mated to the brake levers
Shimano XT chain
Shimano XT rear dérailleur
Shimano SLX front dérailleur
Jagwire red hydraulic hose
Clarks red gear cable outers
RockShox Reba 120mm forks
Velo carbon saddle
FSA crank set with carbon crank arms
FSA carbon seatpost
FSA carbon handlebars
FSA carbon stem
Carbon bottle cage
Hope lock on grips
Aerozine red jockey wheels
DH Sports pedals
Enduroguard
Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2.1 tyres with red banding.

See pics below.

Standard (minus grips and tyres):

I welcome comments, criticism and suggestions I'm a newbie rider (been riding on and off for 2 years) and looking forward to getting out on it.

    That's... Individual :-)

    I like it :)

Where did you find the red spokes? Did you build the wheels up yourself or.. ?

    And those rotors are HUGE!!!

Haha thanks! I believe the spokes came like that as standard? The rotors are only 203mm, I don't need them to be that big but I do like the look. Looking at it I could do with a shorter stem and I also want 700mm flat bars

Nice.. i assumed that you had added all the red styling.. ;)

Those rotors are enormous. I only run 160mm on my hardtail (I might change to 180 front) but i don't think i'd ever need 200 unless I start doing DH..

The stem does look quite long but you should decide whether you need one or not depending on how it rides not how it looks... :)

I suppose with it being ridden mainly on Tarmac when I use it for work the longer stem may be a little better, although a shorter stem would be better for a livelier front end at a guess. I need to upgrade my rims and hubs later in the year but I don't want to lose the red spokes. Been thinking of a carbon wheelset.

I just want the weather to get a little better im itching to get out on it and enjoy it! It's currently weighing 11.3kg. Hoping for get it closer to 10.5 be going tubeless, although I have no idea how much weight that will save if any!

I doubt you'll loose much by going tubeless, using the same tyres, I'd expect maybe 100-150g per wheel if you're lucky and depending on your current tubes.

The advantages a in the pressures you can run however and the puncture protection you have.
  • Like it, not to keen on the spokes tho.
Know what you mean about not seeing any anywhere so here a pic of mine

MIdgehulluk - What forks have you got on there? I had to second glance that - looks like they're on backwards with the crown being at the back..

My tubeless weighs in at rim tape 5g, Valve 8g, Sealant 60g Per wheel, so a total of 73g. Tubed it was rim tape 5g (electrical tape) and tube 130g (lightweight Conti) so a saving of 62g/wheel

Worst (best?) case would be from a heavier (about the heaviest likely) option of Rim tape 40g and tube 215g so a saving of 188g/wheel but that is using Stans rim tape which is very light and only useful in a tubeless ready wheel, a ghetto option (BMX tube or Gorilla tape) will weigh a lot more.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
