So coming into the work car park this morning and had one of the spokes break on my rear wheel (Shimano RS20 road wheels). Second time its happened (in about 6 months) so time for some new wheels especially as they were bought second hand.

Will be used on the commuter (which I will be selling in a few months time) so not looking for anything expensive. Any recommendations.

Seen Shimano R501 and Shimano RS010 for around the £70 mark. Will these be ok? Whats the difference between the two?

  • +1 on the Zondas. Possibly one of if not the best value wheel around.

If too expensive, take a look at something cheaper from either the Campagnolo or Fulcrum range. Both v hard wearing and v good otherwise.

I run RS31s. Very happy with them, especially for £140.

That said, the Zonda do have a v.g. rep. I used to have Sciroccos, the one down from the Zondas. Practically bomb-proof.
    FCN 2-4.

  • If you are selling it, look no further than the R 501... you'll never get your money back if you spend more

Currently commuting on Zondas myself. A very good wheel - really quite stiff so responsive and feel quick but road imperfections get transmitted direct to your *rse and hands so not a comfort choice. Nevertheless I am generally happy with them and far better than the Aksiums they replaced.

  • Thanks for all the recommendations. Not looking to spend much money at all so have gone for the R501's from Amazon.
