Chains: Shimano CN-7701 or SRAM PC991?

The 9-speed Shimano CN-7701 and SRAM PC991 chains are around the same price, but which one is better in terms of lasting longer?
The Shimano claims to be at Dura-Ace/XTR level and I know you can't beat that.
This is on Shimano shifters and Shimano cassette, but some say SRAM are the better chains. Personally I haven't had a Shimano chain on a bike for 10 years, its been all KMC and SRAM.
Back in the day people in the know bought those "Sedisport" chains and avoided the Shimano ones. :roll:

Sedis = Sachs = SRAM.
IMO, chain life is much more dependent on how you look after it, as opposed to which chain you buy in the first place.0 -
I'd personally go for the SRAM one as its cheaper and there will likely be little difference in performance or longevity. Also the SRAM chain will come with a handy split link to make installation and removal (for a thorough clean say) much easier than the breakaway pin shimano use- I tend to go with SRAM chains now for that reason.0

Scrap both and get the KMC equivalent easier to fit then Shimano, and subsequently easier to remove than SRAM, no discernible perofrmance benefits but they do some really nice chains.
Between the two, SRAM, that Shimano joining pin is made of butter0 -
I've never been able to fasten the shimano joint. The guy in the bike shop told me he couldn't either! It kind of defeats the purpose of getting shimano if you have to buy another link. I had a 9 speed mc chain break on me when it was relatively new and have stuck to sram ever since.0

Ended up getting a KMC chain. :oops:
Pretty much because people rave about them and I never really tried one and no other reason.0 -
Make sure you ditch the quicklink, I'm sure I've read somewhere recently that "they're crap"0

The quick link is the best thing about them, used them all,kmc every time.0

Im not keen in KMC chains for winter they seem to rust very quickly. I've used Shimano for 10 years and never had a problem with the pin not working or breaking.0
