Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Hi, i just wanted to ask that my front brake is not touching the disc fully. This means only half of the brake pad is being used and that means i will have to change the brake pads regularly. Does that mean i have purchased the wrong adapter. The disc is 203mm from shimano and the adapter is from shimano aswell. The brakes are shimano SLX M675. I have uploaded an image so you can get a better understanding of what i am saying. The rear brakes look like they are using the whole brake pad which means the pads are equally spread whereas the front ones aren't. What should i do?
Also my brakes are powerful, is it possible to reduce the braking power. When pressing the lever if pressed hard the disc will vibrate. Is that a good thing?
How many should i bleed my brakes. Should i have a routine?
Thanks

it could be all wrong but your picture does not work."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Picture works for me, definitely not right. Are you certain you have a 203mm disc and the right adaptor? A picture from the other side would be more helpful though so the adaptor etc can be seen properly.
Im thinking it's the wrong adaptor though
For post mount to post mount it should be this one
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... -prod13747
Or IS to post this one
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... -prod13743
Don't know from that angle wether your forks are IS or post.0 -

Let me see...
Change to a bigger rotor.
Too powerful even just touching half the pads.
Simple solution to both problems
Put the old one back on.
And no, bleed if they need it, which is likely never.I don't do smileys.

Hi, i am sure i have purchased the right adapter. It's the same one from http://go.redirectingat.com/?id=71026X1 ... 35ec&xtz=0 (203mm version)
What should i do now?0 -
It doesn't look right in the picture, is it the right way up?0
-
The caliper is mounted too far out for the size of disc. So either the mount is wrong or the disc is wrong. As said above a picture from the other side might help as it would be easier to see what is going on.0
-
have you put the adaptor on the wrong way?0
-
Also looks like the quick release is not done up the right way0

While you're at it put the QR on properly so the reaction force doesn't remove the front wheel from the forks which also look like they may well not be strong enough for the discs power anyway.....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I have checked and can confirm that the adapter is on the right way. I tried turning it upside down but couldn't as the caliper bolts couldn't reach the adaper. Is it because of the pads stuck in the way or summat. So i switched the adapter back to the normal way and the bolt goes in fine which suggest i did put it right in the first place. You can't put the disc on the wrong way. It's either the side with the writing which is the right way or the other side which has no writing. What should i do now?0

As someone suggested, post a pic from the other side.I don't do smileys.

Again a better photo would be a big help, the problem will be the adaptor, it should have an arrow on it saying up, is that pointing up?0

I would say you have a rear 203 adaptor."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yes, it is a rear adapter, i purchased 2. One for the back and one for the front. Someone on this forum told me that they will work for both. I can't find any just fir the front. I will upload the picture of the back shortly.0

What do you mean?
You said take a picture from the other side and i have. I'm using a rear adapter on the front as someone told me to use that. I can't find any thats a 203mm adapter for front. Could you give me a link so i can purchase one
Thanks0 -
The second link I posted at the start of the thread is front IS to post, the link you posted is also to the same.0

The link i posted before was to say that i had that particular adapter for my front brake. Someone in the forum stated that they would like to see the other side of the braje/adapter and i have uploaded an image to show that. I'm just wondering what should i do now?0
-
As you said, you've got a rear adaptor on the front, what you need to do next is get a front adaptor instead and fit that0

This is the one you put a link to, says its front, as you can see from the picture it's different to the one you have now, you need the front one for the front0 -
Could you give me a link where i can purchase that as i am having no luck at the moment finding one, i can see they look exactly the same. So why shouldn't the rear one work?0
-
That is the link. You posted it yourself. Front 203mmAntm81 wrote:BIGBOSS78659 wrote:Hi, i am sure i have purchased the right adapter. It's the same one from http://go.redirectingat.com/?id=71026X1 ... 35ec&xtz=0 (203mm version)
