Hi everyone,

I'm going to innsbruck next week and will have a couple of days to get out on the road bike

I'd like to do a couple of 6-8 hour rides but have no idea what the weathers' going to be like at this time of year- will i be able to get a few climbs in or will most of the roads be closed with snow and ice?

Can anyone give me any advice on routes, things to see?

I'm going equipped with a garmin so if anyone has routes as gpx files this would be a great help!

Thanks!

    Try:

I'd have thought that snow would be an issue. The main passes should be open and if you get a fine day with no snow it might be possible. Maybe a ride along the Inn Radweg?.

    Or hire skis/snowboard/snowshoes instead?

We've been to Austria in the summer a lot, and it's very nice for leisure cycling, but at this time of the year it will be very cold with lots of snow - not ideal for road cycling.

There's a steep road climb up to Seefeld from Innsbruck - only been there on the coach from Innsbruck airport, but I'm sure it would be a tough cycle ride, especially in winter.
