Our on-the-road experience suggests that even 42 mm-wide tires do not roll slower than 25 mm tires

Now on tyre pressure:
Of all our research on tires, the most revolutionary finding is this: Tire pressure has almost no effect on a tire’s speed.

I don't subsrcibe, there is some discussion of the testing methods it in the comments, but its abit technical for me to understand.
See Tom Anhalt’s comments0 -
Mm. Anhalt and Simmons seem like they understand how to qualify a gauge setup better than Heine, that's for sure. Not convincing (even if the conclusions happen to be true).- - - - - - - - - -

Standard RR tests are done on perfectly smooth rollers, which do not reflect the reality of the road. The bigger the grains in the tarmac, the less reliable these tests become.
So yes, on some roads you will find a 42 mm tyre at 30 PSI faster than a 23 mm tyre at 120 PSI, while on other roads it will be the opposite.
You have to match the tyre with the area you live in...left the forum March 20230 -
All i know is that when I used to TT on tubs - we thought harder the better - which ended up in the back wheel bouncing over the smallest piece of grit - so I don't think that worked too well.0
