Do I really really need a new bike? NO.

But on the basis that you cant have enough and with this in my size looks like a bargin?

It would be my first venture into carbon market.

why shouldn't I ??

Because you don't need a new bike
Because it's a 2013 bike with a 10 speed 2013 groupset and everyone will make fun of you for riding a new fancy bike with only a 10 speed cassette.
Because that colour scheme is a little too bright
Because the tyres are only 23mm
Because you're asking us to talk you out of it for crying out loud!!!!

That is one cool looking bike 8) Does having 10 speed really matter? Great groupset and wheels, and that colourway is pretty neat. Not for a plodder like me though  Go for it...

Is it not PF 30 ?
  • Because you could get the frameset for £1,170 here (extra 10% off if sign up for the newsletter):

£2.5k will buy you a lot of groupset and wheels.

looked at the Sigma f&f option but like the colour scheme of the 2013 model more. Also by the time you add the groupset even though its 10 speed and a set of wheels like the mavics it's that sort of money anyway. I don't think the f&f have changed from 2013 to today?

Really like the look of the bike and more important I'm presuming it's going to go like stink. I bought my first cannondale (caadx) last year and have been really impressed.

Also thinking for that price you are getting a lot of bike for the money. Although for that price I could also look at the Canyon Aeroroad in Red!! :)

That's not a totally accurate statement. Yes, both can use the same crank sets. But a PF 30 frame is not the same as a BB30 frame. The way the bearings are housed in the frame is totally different in the PF 30 frame. My understanding is that PF 30 doesn't suffer from the issues that BB30 is known for.

I would agree with the above, the fact that the bearings are now in a sealed internal housing means they are far less likely to get damaged by water ingress. it is more or less the same system as the BB86 GXP BB that I use and my last one went for about 10k miles before needing replacement which, while still isn't perfect, is good enough.

with the right tools, replacement is easy in any case, much easier than my HT2 bearings on my other bike which seized in place.

If you shop around it will work out quite a lot cheaper and you'd have been able to choose bar width, bar reach/drop, crank length, saddle, seatpost set back, stem length, cassette/chainset ratios. That's ignoring the upgrade to 11 speed and being able to pick wheels suited to your riding.

Depends if you like trawling bike websites and are happy building it up yourself I suppose.

Colour scheme not as flash but this one is £1200 cheaper!!! http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b65s6p5166/CANNONDALE-SUPERSIX-EVO-HI-MOD-RED-RACING-2013

Silly geometry "classic" bars and wheels that you'd have to shift for next to nothing on eay. Buy the frame......

I have PF30 on one bike and BB86 on another bike, from my experience BB86 is far more reliable than PF30. As you say you can get nearly 10000 miles from BB86, but that is certainly not the case with PF30.

This might be better - its cheaper and certain options can be customised:

    You're right. My mistake.

It's not massively more expensive if you factor in the near 600 quid for a SiSl 2 crank...
