Looking at several £1500ish bikes as a winter hack/commuter bike.

Kinda drawn to a Whyte and a Genisis, the thing that bothers me about the Whyte is the Shimano press fit bb. Are press fit bb's as bad as I keep reading and hearing?
This is why!

  • Can you link some bad reviews of pressfit bb's?
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • The bb86 on my Kinesis has been hammered since last July and is still going strong.

You're confusing BB30 with BB86/BB90 - both press fit but one is doesn't start creaking as soon as you leave the shop and bearings last more than a couple of weeks if you ride in the rain. There's a reason Shimano haven't adopted BB30 - cos it's a crock...
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

But then again my Felt F1 (BB30) is fine!
Cheap bearings and easily replaced. I do prefer HT11 though...

I have a Shimano press fit BB in my Scott CR1 and it's still fine after 2 years. Doesn't get ridden in filthy weather though.
