Road tube bulk buys - any recommendations?

As per the title really, I'm looking to purchase one of those 10 pack or so bulk buys of inner tubes that various online retailers offer, but don't want to end up with a load of dodgy valves or splits or whatever. I'm not that bothered about weight, just reliability really. So can anyone recommend a brand?

    Airwave(CRC) or Planet X
And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made.
  • I think you have to ask yourself why you need so many inner tubes... there is clearly something wrong in what you are doing. I am now running tubeless and I therefore no longer use them, but even when I did, I think 10 inner tubes would probably last me 5 years.

  • Ditto above

1-2 spare tubes should do you for years.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • I bought a pack of lifeline innertubes back when they did packs of 10 about a year ago, and still have a few left. They don't have removeable inner cores which does mean they can't be used with a lot of valve extendors (although should that really be a problem?).

I'm very glad I had them to hand last month when I got a 3 punctures in as many weeks- two from racing on an awful circuit surface at this time of year (luckily I switched out my super light tubes for disposable ones in anticipation) and one fluke puncture on a general ride with my trusty (albeit battered and now replaced) winter tyres.

You never know when the next puncture will come and rear its ugly head- until last month I hadn't had one for about 8-9 months and its good to have cheap tubes around- why pay £8 for a standard conti tube when a much cheaper one does exactly the same job and are no more susceptable to punctures.

I've done the Airwave thing but if they don't puncture, they seem to fail at the valve. If you puncture a lot, they're OK.

I bought a 10 pack of the Airwave tubes from CRC and still using them, might be down to my last one but have others too. I do have a pile of tubes I need to repair which I must get round to doing soon otherwise I'll end up buying more.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Ok, cheers for the advice. I'm in Sheffield for work next week, so will give Planet X a ring beforehand to see if they have any at the shop, as for 1.99 a pop, they are cheaper than the bulk buys!

I've just been to Decathlon Stockport and they were selling inner tubes for £1 a pop. They are these ones:

Website say £1.19 which is still an outstanding price. They are not obviously budget either, they have a cheaper range, these are just heavily discounted at the moment.
I usually repair my old tubes using glueless patches, which are £3 for 8. And when tubes are that price, its not really worth the hassle, you might as well just fit a new tube each time...

I had some of those Decathlon ones a while back but found the valves really unreliable. They also didn't have a collar to keep them in place.
