Definately not the 1, it's fork is dire.
The EX is claimed to have a hydraulic fork, not seen one on an XCT before so would be sceptical.
The Bantu is much much better than the two GT's.
Rockrider 520 at Decathlon is also very good http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-52 ... 93188.html and better than the Bantu in the drivetrain and tyres.

Depends, I wouldn't pick any of those for road only riding.

Yes lots, which I would recommend depends on usage as you have a choice of everything from a skinny tyred flat barred road bike through to a rigid MTB, I like the Voodoo Marasa a lot as it can do a wide range of uses, My nephew has one and has 32mm road tyres for road usage and some MTB tyres for off road riding.

Fit 500 is an excellent fast road Hybrid at the price - note carbon forks for example.

Thankyou rookie for your input... let me check out those bikes also what do you think of

  • My brother has a voodoo hoodoo which is the same price as the Bantu with discounts and he loves it it's a good workhorse used to get to work and and on the trail it's more than capable as with most bikes though I would recommend changing the peddles for a set of decent ones I have a 650b and I was surprised how much of a gap I get from a standing start with no peddling on a 200 metre down hill v my brothers 26"

You need to decide what you want the bike to do, for UK road use you don't need suspension forks, but for quite rough roads a Hybrid with forks makes some sense (I ride in India a lot on 'road' and they are only just comfortable enough, in fact I prefer an MTB for the extra give in the tyre).

If it is what you want, this is a decent enough buy
http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/h ... sport-2014, for a bit less this is also a reasonable spec.

  • Would the Specialized Pitch 650b be worth considering at this level?

    For whom?
    You or the OP?
    But I wouldn't.

  • Generally, really - thread hijacking / looking for advice on it since I can't find many reviews or comments on the Pitch. But was throwing it into the discussion for entry level bikes

Maybe I'll start a new thread... rather than continue to hijack this one.
  • Personally having had the chance to ride one I'd go with the GT Aggressor Expert... For its price, it gives a comfortable ride and comes with decent specs..
