I will be in Florence between June 28-July 12 and would like to spend the mornings riding while my wife is in class. Can anyone recommend a shop for road bike rental and/or a source of information on routes?

Try:

although to be honest I didn't find a good place in Firenze. The best I could come up with seemed to be eco-rent near Pisa.
Check: http://italy-cycling-guide.info/toscana ... -websites/ for useful websites - bear in mind that Firenze is a complete PITA to get into and out of. Possibly the best areas near to Firenze is the Mugello. You can climb the hill to Fiesole that was part of the world championship circuit (or take the train).0 -
Thanks. This looks like a lot of good information to review.0

+1 for Fiesole...its' a bit of a slog, but when you get to the village at the top of the hill, follow the signs for the big campsite, they have a decent cafe bar, where you get a superb, panoramic view of Florence - watch out for the cheeky 20%er up to the campsite gates, though :oops:If Wales was flattened out, it'd be bigger than England!
