Nearly knocked down an older lady on a folding bike tonight, as I drove across town to pick-up my daughter.

She was turning right and decided to do this in front of me

Luckily I was just pulling away on a green light, so no issue (no contact, no need for cycling lady to have to get off). Just reminded me why you need to have your wits about you in town
All the gear, but no idea...

When did you last read the Highway Code?

Strange response lol... I last read it 26years ago... A bit like the bible, a book you know that's there but have no interest in reading

Anyway, OP I know what you mean, you have to treat everybody else as they are out to get you

I had an 'old deer' jump out on me 2 days ago while descending in the dark at 30 MPH..I missed her by 2 seconds as he scampered away into the bushes...CLOSE

I assume the lady was over to left initially and didn't signal?

Or was she heading the opposite direction and cut across?

It's not really clear from your post what the problem was.

She was travelling towards me and was about to cut across. The road incline was in my favour, so surprised she had enough leg power to accelerate then cross in front of me.

Apologies for the vague post, it was a long day yesterday...
