Noticed theese ritchley tyres on ebay for £10.

  • They look nice.It all boils down to what you want to do with your tyres... those that are good for racing in the mud are generally not durable... meaning you can disintegrate them by riding 200 miles on tarmac... on the other hand those that are a bit more durable are not very good for racing (too heavy, too slow, not supple, not enough traction, no feel, can't go low pressure, you name it... ).
    A friend races on Clement PDX, which are lovely and grippy and have great feel but they are meant to go around a muddy field 100 times... use them on hard soil and you can watch the pattern disappearing.

    That Ritchey to me looks like a good solid do it all tyre, more than a racing snake... it's the kind of tyre I would buy...

  • Yeah, someone's found a glut of these. They do appear to be a bargain. I've almost pressed buy on them before.

    It's interesting with CX tyres, as Ugo says, in terms of watching them disappear. I commute on Uncle John PX tyres. You can see, after say a thousand or so miles, just how flat the centre has become. Still good. But they won't last much longer.
