Hi Guys,
First time poster long time lurker.
Just wondering if any of you have ridden or own the new planet x nanolight:

Thinking of getting one as I want a racey bike but something I can still use for longer rides every now . The spec looks great for that price.
Looking at the Gaint TCR Advanced and Cannondale Supersix Evo too but they are pushing my budget. Would they all be similar in terms of ride?
Cheers

Can't comment on that bike, but if that was my money I'd want a better frame and lesser components with the scope to upgrade in the future.
If you have a good look around the Scott Addict and Focus Cayo can be had for that sort of money.0 -
It looks good value I'd agree - probably a good choice if you want an aero frame. If you are a large there's this on sale: http://www.rutlandcycling.com/286801/pr ... tAodHRQAfQ or maybe this http://www.triuk.com/products/boardman- ... Looks a nice bike to me. I have a Ribble Gran fondo with SRAM Rival and love it. I almost bought one of the old Nanolights a few years ago but they didn't have my size in stock at the time.
Ribble are also worth a look, their well respected R872 model is available for a good price with SRAM Rival :-

I've got an original nanolight which is a great bike, very light, goes like a train. I remember at the time seeing OK-ish reviews for it (can't find anything now) and wonder if any bad points are the kind of subtlety that only bike reviewers know about? Flexing under power, steering geometry that sort of thing. Of course without the ability to do a side by side comparison it's going to be hard to tell, even then that may be quite subjective.
If it fits and you like the look of it then go for it. I'd be a bit put off by the press fit BB (have seen various people moaning about the longevity) and I'm sure the groupset is just fine, though I've never ridden a SRAM bike.
What's the all in weight? Looks a bit heavier than mine, for that price from pX I wonder why, though weight is only one specification to look at.0 -
Thanks for all the replies and bike suggestions. Dinyull that's a great piece of advice and I think I am going to stretch the budget and get the 2015 Cannondale Supersix 105 5. Seems to be a more versatile choice compared with the pure racy Planet X. I am not sure about the all in weight but I know the frame is around 1240g for the PX. Passout I took a look at that Giant but unfortunately I am only 5"7 so rules out most Giants and TCR Advanced 1's are hard to find in small.0

Ive had a couple of PX bikes and never been overly impressed compared to the big brands. If I was spending under £1000 I'd consider but over that price and I'd look at bigger name frame.
The pro carbon was flexy and the front end was light.
The N2A was a bone shaker, noisy and heavy.
Just my opinion. I think PX are a great company and have some real bargains but their frames are cheap for a reason.0 -
For under a grand don't rule out the Boardman Team Carbon.
The bike is fantastic and plenty of scope to upgrade the groupset & wheels to make it even better.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to go for.0 -
Thanks for the replies, my budget is about £1500 max0

Take a look at the Canyon CF SL 7.0 with 105 for £1399, excellent frame also Rose bikes are well respected.0

There's a 6.5kg Rose with Force22, DT Swiss wheels and carbon frame that s got my eye at the moment because its only costs £1650 !25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0

As the other guys say, Rose and Canyon are hard to beat. Never ridden either though.0

Went to my lbs today and ended up with the 2015 cannondale supersix 105. Tried a few different things but this fit great. Looking forward to taking it for a spin tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!0
