I bought the bleed kit & oil for Shimano brakes from CRC to bleed my Zee brakes

There are no syringes included but all the guides I have read and the Shimano instructions I read all seem to use a syringe. Am I reading the wrong instructions or have I got the wrong kits?

I'm pretty sure you can do it with just the bottle and tube but it's so much easier with a syringe. The M575 is indeed the correct tool for the lever though.

The syringe and bottle do the exact same thing, they just push fluid up from the caliper to the lever.

"Genuine Shimano bleed tool for maintaining your Shimano M575 hydraulic Disc brake system"

Old Shimano. I think you can still use them but send it back and get

    Much easier.

The new 'flush through' bleed with funnel and tube is meant to eliminate the small chance of an air bubble in the calliper, but I still use the old fashioned syringe from the calliper up method and it's never been an issue even when helping a mate out with the latest brakes.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

With my cynical hat on, flush-through would also use a lot more fluid - so "may affect sales of [Shimano] brake fluid" (ie. increase it).

I use the funnel (as a reservoir - and mine has a plugging mechanism - so you can transfer the excess to a storage bottle) & syringe. 30ml syringe came from eBay and was at my door for less than £1.

The videos I've seen from shimano technicians bleeding brakes on race mtb bikes on youtube show the syringe up method from the calliper so I guess you can do it either way.

last time I bled some brakes was the syringe method using a kit from epic bleed solutions, hope you have a small 7mm spanner too for the bleed nut.
