I'm really struggling in these temperatures, I go out in all weathers and have a couple of quality bibs by Castelli and Northwave but I can't keep that most important of areas warm! Did 20 mile jaunt this morning in 4-6 degrees C and I swear mine disappeared :(

Any tips folks?

I swear by woolie boolie merino socks to keep my feet warm at this time of year, so why not shove something similar down the front of your shorts?

I seem to cope OK with a thermal base layer and roubaix bibtights. Pull the baselayer down at the front and scoop tackle in; has the added benefit of ensuring you don't accidentally sit on your plumbs!

    Deep Heat

Last time I saw Deep Heat being applied to genitalia was on the coach on the way back from a school rugby match. The anguished cries of the victim still haunt me

    DON'T USE DEEP HEAT!

Get some thermal tights. If you really don't want to do that then wear boxers like a heathen.

But you don't want to be a heathen right?

I wore these for the first time this morning. Worked a charm.

I got two pairs of these updated Vaeons, you might as well call them UK All Year Round bibs as they will probably get worn until late June, 1 day without leg or knee warmers, then back to these.
    Excellent quality.

Tin foil between layers maybe ? I've used it to block vents in my hat before now - and it folds down to nothing if it gets too hot too.

I must admit, I too struggle with this "issue" Always get a cold bell end  :lol:
  • If you cycle long enough it'll disappear up into your body and keep it warm :-)
  • There is one thing you can do that will keep your gentlemans sausage warm ;-) I'm not sure if it would be possible on a bike though.

You don't keep him warm at this time of year. Just accept that you get cold and you are transgender for a little while.

    Two tips:

    1. Don't undress in front of your wife/GF after a long winter ride unless you have a penchant for ridicule.

    2. Keep the shower temperature down until the necessary warming up has happened.

Look on the bright side. Certain MPs pay a woman in leather and high heels £500 for that experience. Use the £500 you have saved for a winter trip to Majorca.

You have two pairs so wear two pairs - at the same time.

That will also wipe the smile off the wife''s face as the laundry basket fills twice as quick.

    merino willy warmer?
  • I guess if the old chap does go in to hiding when it's cold, at least it would reduce drag ;-)
  • Put a sock on it. Nuts and all. Works a treat.

You could chuck on these over shorts for an extra layer.

Thanks guys, appreciate all the suggestions, I don't know about wearing two bibs as I reckon I'd get too warm everywhere else, think I'm gonna try the sock suggestion

I discovered it accidentally when "shaving" my legs. Use sparingly.

The wife normal keeps my gentleman area warm. Although if it's rather cold then it can take her a while to find it.
Never put off until tomorrow something that you can do today. 'Cause if you do it today, and like it, the you can do it again tomorrow!!

I did a 25 mile run this morning 4-5 C and used a Giro Merino sock! Didn't make much difference, still pretty much disappeared though I can say I wasn't as uncomfortable as without so must have helped a little!
