I have just purchased a X-Fusion slant 130/160 RL2 fork, A SLX 203mm rotor and a Superstar components 203 brake mount adapter. On the fork specifications it states max size 203mm. I have fitted all the parts but the rotor position seems wrong and the rotor is not fully in contact with the pads.(only the outside edge of the rotor) Do the brake calipers bolt on directly ? or have i ordered the wrong adapter ?

Thanks for the help.

The X Fusion Slant is a 180mm post mount fork, no adapter is needed for a 180mm rotor.

A 203mm (+43mm) adapter on 180mm post mounts is correct spacing for a 223mm rotor.

You'll need a Hope 183mm post mount adapter, it increases the rotor size by 23mm.

    180 + 23 = 203

The Fox 36 & Manitou Mattoc forks also have 180mm post mounts.

    Here's a fork with 180mm post mounts, a 183mm post mount adapter (+23mm) and a 203mm rotor

As you don't have a 6" post mount you need a SS No 7 mount.

Post 6" to 8" to put on your 8" mount.

A No.7 would be correct spacing for a 200mm rotor, you'd need an extra 1.5mm of packing under the caliper for correct spacing with a 203mm rotor.
Post 6" to 8" to put on your 8" mount.
That makes no sense to me.

It basically translates to "Post 152mm to 203mm to put on your 203mm mount"

Inches shouldn't be used with brake mount sizes, rotor sizes or adapter sizes, it can make things confusing.

    5" is 127mm
    5 1/2" is about 140mm
    6" is about 152mm
    6 1/2" is about 165mm
    7" is about 178mm
    7 1/2" is about 190mm
    8" is about 203mm

    Brake mounts come in 140mm, 160mm, 180mm, 200mm and 203mm sizes.

    Rotors and adapters come in sizes of 140mm, 160mm, 165mm, 170mm, 178mm, 180mm, 183mm, 185mm, 190mm, 200mm, 203mm, 205mm, 210mm, 220mm, etc.
    * Some of those adapter and rotor sizes aren't made anymore.

and the post mount standards were written by americans and are in inches.

and you will not need any spacers to make it up.

superstar components doesen't offer anything for this fork-disc combo, as I understand they offer only for 160mm strd mount fork to 180 and 203

No 7 will fit a fork with 160mm disc mount off set to fit 180mm disc
I used the No 8 going from 160 to 203 front

Looks like no adapter is needed for a 203mm rotor on the Slant, maybe I was confusing the Sweep with the Slant, the Sweep has 180mm post mounts.

What the hell is going on here. I tried to fit the brake caliper onto the post direct and it went nowhere near. I purchased the hope 183mm disc brake adapter that cobba suggested and it fits perfect.

    I'm very confused. :? :? :?

Can you buy different size calipers :?:

Good to see you got it sorted.

It seems that the Slants originally came with 203mm post mounts but I've seen a few forum posts elsewhere that said they were going to introduce this fork with 180mm post mounts.

There's not much really said about them, I don't know if they only make them with 180mm post mounts now or you have an option of getting 203mm post mounts too.

What a pain in the butt. I think the 2013/14 models have changed in post mount size. Oh well sorted now.
Thanks to everyone else for there input/comments too. :)

That's why manufacturers should stick to some standards or make it loud that there is some other option as well, this is confusing, and stupid.
