I prefer my cheaper wheels to my Ffwrds?

I have a set of FFRWDs F4R new version (2015). They were via insurance a few years ago then cracked and replaced under warranty a few months ago. They are pretty much brand new and only done 100miles. I've even upgraded the ratchet in the DT swiss hub to 36t. (1650g) But I don't like them...

I find my HED Ardennes + with American classic hubs and cx ray spokes ride better and are faster. These are 1450g.

Am I being silly or do I get rid of FFrwds, having £1k in wheels in my garage doesn't seem right for a set of wheels I don't like.

Have people found this that they dont get on with their carbon wheels or just me?

  • I had F4R. They were nice. But not earth shattering. I think I prefer my Fulcrum Racing 3.

Hmm, if they were clinchers I'd be very interested

Unfortunately your review doesnt fill me with confidence and not having a warranty would concern me ;)

(I'd like some FFWRD wheels for a reminder of my times in NL)

If they are taking up space unused, sell on.
Personally I dont like deep section clincher wheels.. just a personal view
I like my F6R carbon tubs though.. just need to put some decent Veloflexes on for the season.
Sell on and buy a set of Fulcrum Zero Nites ;-)

As most bicycle components and innovations, even carbon rims are largely over rated

I don't think it is the wheel weight it will be the rim width. The hed rim is wide really wide that is levy to make a difference. If you don't like the wheels and will not use them sell them.
