10 speed free hub compatible with 8 speed hub and cassette?

An old Shimano RX100 hub and cassette, 8 speed. Will a new Shimano 10 speed free hub body be compatible? Thanks.

    Now I don't know about a RX100, but I've replaced non-matching Shimano 8/9/10 freehub bodies a few times quite successfully
    eg WH-R550 wheels work perfectly happily with a Tiagra 4400, a FH2200 and a Deore STX MTB freehub body

    Shimano's website has exploded views so you can see it's the same fitting, but I reckon if you stick to the steel freehub bodies you get on the cheaper 8/9/10sp hubs, then they interchange OK

    And I've found you can buy new-old-stock whole rear hubs for a lot less than the price of a freehub body too...
